Turtle Life Span is a small, independent project built around a single idea: the sea turtle lifecycle is one of the most extraordinary journeys on the planet, and a browser game might be the most engaging way to feel its scale.
What it is
A free, no-login educational site combining short, replayable games with reference material on turtle biology and conservation. No app store needed. Works on a school Chromebook, a parent’s phone, or a public-library desktop.
Who it’s for
- Kids (roughly ages 6–12) who want a real game, not a worksheet with a play button on top.
- Teachers and homeschool parents looking for a free tool that maps to NGSS life-sciences standards.
- Conservation-curious adults who want a daily challenge they can share.
What it isn’t
- Not ad-supported in any way that targets behavior.
- No student account is required. Browser saves, server logs and optional services are described in our Privacy Policy.
- Not a substitute for real conservation organizations: we link to independent resources such as the Sea Turtle Conservancy, SEE Turtles, The Turtle Hospital, and Olive Ridley Project.
Real biology, in the gameplay
Where we can, we try to teach real things through real mechanics. The frequently quoted “1 in 1,000” survival figure is a rough educational estimate, not a universal rate. Our editorial policyexplains sources, corrections and the difference between game rules and biology. We do not claim scientific reviewers or partnerships that have not been established. Temperature-dependent sex determination, geomagnetic navigation, and the threat of plastic-mistaken-for-jellyfish are all things turtles actually navigate. We try to make them gameplay, not footnotes.
